Lepakshi is a small town just 120KM from Bangalore.. Road is awsum and It's around 2 and half hour drive from Hebbel Flyover.. We visited Lepakshi this weekend and it was an awsum drive.Lepakshi(Lepa-Akshi) means " a Village of Blinded Eys", is very important place from the Historical and Archeological point of view.
Town is very small and other than a monolithic Nandi and shrine of 'Shiva','Vishnu' and 'Virabhadara' on top of rock... there is nothing much to do.... We didn't carry our Lunch and we regret abt it later... Had half eaten Masala Dosa ( we couldn't eat it more than that ) and Soft drinks for lunch... By the time we reached Bangalore We were dying of Hunger..
So if you carrying your Lunch box with you Lepakshi is a beautiful weekend getAway from Bangalore... Beautiful carving on Pillars and Paintings on the roof are nice to experience... you can spend hours in beautiful Temple compound .. Not too many visitors makes this small town even more simple and uncrowded.

Lepakshi is derived from "Le Pakshi". Its relevance is when Jatayu, the mytical bird from Ramayana fell here injured after the fight with Ravana while kidnapping Sita ma .. Lord Sri Rama asked the bird Jatayu to get up .. which in telugu is "Le pakshi" .. Le = get up .. Pakshi = bird :)
BTW .. nice captures of the spots ..
Are there no small eateries to have a good village meal??
